When you attach files in ReachMyTeach, it’s important to know how translations work. We do our best to keep attachments clear and accessible for families, but with so many design tools and the nuances of different languages, not every attachment will translate perfectly. Text length, fonts, and right-to-left scripts (like Arabic or Hebrew) can all affect formatting. Our goal is always to deliver the most accurate and easy-to-read translation possible.
What gets translated automatically
Message body: All text you type into ReachMyTeach is translated into the family’s preferred language.
PDF attachments: PDFs translate best — they usually keep their formatting across languages and are delivered along with the original file.
What does not get translated automatically
Screenshots or images with text: Flattened text inside images cannot be translated.
Flagged files: Files that we flag as untranslatable.
Important notes about PDFs
PDF formatting usually holds up the best when translated.
Some PDFs may not translate correctly depending on how they were saved (for example, if the text is embedded as an image).
If ReachMyTeach is unable to translate a PDF, we will flag it so you know right away.
Tips for formatting attachments so they translate well
Always upload PDFs when possible: PDFs are the most reliable for translation.
Keep text editable: Avoid embedding text in graphics or images. If you need to use visuals, keep them spaced away from key text so formatting doesn’t shift.
Use simple, adaptable fonts: Fonts that support multiple scripts work best. Decorative or narrow fonts may not display clearly across languages.
Leave room for text expansion: Translated text often takes up more space than English. Give paragraphs and headings extra room to grow.
Preview before sending: Use ReachMyTeach’s Preview feature to see how the translated version will look for families.
