Customizing Messages
Attendance Nudges support both short and long message customization.
Configure the Intro Message
Location:
Nudge → Intro Message
The Intro Message is the SMS/email recipients receive first.
Available Message Types
- Positive message
- Needs improvement message
Blurb Cutoff
The cutoff determines which message version is shown based on absence count.
Available Variables
You can personalize messages using variables such as:
[student.firstname][student.monthAbsences][student.totalAbsences][monthName][school.contactEmail][school.contactPhone]
Template Options
- Use Default
- Use Last Message
- Reset Messages
Configure the Report Message
Location:
Nudge → Report Message
The Report Message is the detailed attendance page shown after clicking the link in the Intro Message.
Statement Levels
You can configure four attendance categories:
- Good
- Slight Concern
- Warning
- Critical
Attendance Cutoffs
Three cutoff values determine which statement appears for a student.
Notes

Sent Statistics
The Sent section shows:
- Students who received nudges
- View counts
- Earliest view timestamps
Important Note About View Counts
A low viewed percentage does not necessarily indicate low delivery.
Many families may:
- Read the Intro Message only
- Not click the More/report link
This means:
- Delivery may still be successful
- Engagement may simply occur outside the linked report page
Not Sent Statistics
The Not Sent section shows students who were excluded from sending.
Possible reasons include:
- Exclusion threshold
- Missing federal absence-rate data
- Missing contact information
- Manual exclusions
- Recipient/channel settings
